COMMERCIAL TRANSFER PROGRAMS

Model 100, 102, 200, WP-2 and NEC PC8201A owners, today, just want to get the job done ... the computer is a tool for income, not a toy for geeks. The following is information covering the commercial file transfer programs offered by Club 100. These products are always available.

Products In Brief

Extended Product Descriptions

LAPDOS II
Lapdos II is absolutely the very best file transfer program for Model 100, 102, 200, and NEC PC8201A laptop computer owners who also use a DOS computer.

Lapdos comes on either a 5.25" or 3.5" DOS formatted disk. The Lapdos disk contains all the programming and documentation necessary to operate this product. Access to the programming and docs is via a simple, yet complete, .BAT style menu. Programs are not copy protected and may be copied to your hard disk as desired.

Lapdos connects the Model 100, 102, 200, NEC PC8201A, Tandy Portable Disk Drive 100K (tpdd) and 200K (tpdd2) drives to almost all DOS machines currently in use, with few exceptions. The disk drives connect directly to your DOS machine's COM1 or COM2 port via the existing disk drive cable and a simple gender changer (not null) you can purchase from any Radio Shack store. The laptop computers connect to the DOS computer via a special (full null) null-modem cable. Lapdos and the special cable are sold separately. Note: Just any null-modem cable will not work. The cable pin outs are included in a file on the Lapdos disk for those members who can build their own cable ... otherwise purchase a cable from us.

Lapdos transfers all file types, i.e., .DO, .BA and .CO. Files are safely transferred at 19200 baud between devices. Lapdos supports paths, wild card arguments, color and B&W monitors, file rename, erase, format, and more.

To place a Lapdos order we will need the following information:

Lapdos II - state 5.25" or 3.5" DOS disk $39.95

CompLink Cable - state 25 or 9 pin connector for the COM1 or COM2 port of your DOS machine $17.50

DeskLink
DeskLink turns your DOS computer into an emulation of the Tandy Portable Disk Drive. Thus, saving and loading files to your MS-DOS computer from your Laptop is "exactly" the same as saving and loading from a Tandy Portable Disk Drive with the addition of being able to make sub-subdirectories off of the \ROOT directory. A tree might look like this:

R---ROOT---NOTES
O |--JOBS
O |--MISC
T |--GAMES

Access to your DOS computer running DeskLink requires a special null-modem cable (such as the Club 100 CompLink Cable - see catalog) and TS-DOS v3.0 or higher. Club 100 sells version 4.0 (see below).

The disk-based version requires ownership of the TPDD or TPDD2 as indicated, else you can not initially boot TS-DOS.

The disk-based TS-DOS is actually two programs, TSLOAD.CO and either DOS100.CO, DOS200.CO or DOSNEC.CO, depending on your laptop. Once you have initially booted your loader (TSLOAD.CO) you can boot TS-DOS.

For your convenience, DOS100.CO, DOS200.CO and DOSNEC.CO are included on the DeskLink diskette. Thus, once you've booted the TS-DOS loader (TSLOAD) you may boot TS-DOS from your MS-DOS computer running DeskLink from then on. Club 100 also sells reconditioned TPDD's and TPDD2's drives (call for price and availability).

There are two exceptions to the above TPDD/TPDD2 requirement for the TS-DOS disk-based version use. If you own either an Ultimate ROM II or Sardine ROM, you do not need a TPDD or TPDD2. These ROMs have a built in loader that will load and run the appropriate version of TS-DOS from the DeskLink disk.

Note: DeskLink is the upgrade to BoosterLink. Program operations of DeskLink are the same as those of BoosterLink with the exception that the docs were never upgraded.

Here are some quick-start instructions to help you get up and running, quickly. You may muddle through the docs at your leisure.

DeskLink works from a sub-directory named ROOT off of the root directory of the logged drive. Why the programmers used the word ROOT for the name of the DeskLink main subdirectory I'll never know. Frankly, I think it was a bad idea but who knows what evil lurks in the minds of programmers. The Shadow knows! Anyway . . . you will find the program DESKLINK.COM in the subdirectory named \ROOT on the diskette. To run the DeskLink program from the diskette...

  1. Get onto the diskette drive
    A: <enter> or B: <enter>

  2. Change directory into ROOT
    cd root <enter>

  3. Call the program
    DESKLINK <enter>

Should you wish to run DeskLink from your hard drive, start at the root directory of your hard disk, such as C:\> and...

  1. Make the subdirectory
    MD ROOT <enter>

  2. Transfer the files
    Copy a:\ROOT\*.* c:\ROOT /V <enter>
    Or...
    Copy b:\ROOT\*.* c:\ROOT /V <enter>

To run the DeskLink program from the hard disk . .

  1. Go to the root directory
    cd\ <enter>

  2. Change directory into ROOT
    cd root <enter>

  3. Call the program
    DESKLINK <enter>
